Greece - Thessaloniki
![]() The Via Egnatia runs beside the monumental Arch of Galerius. This arch was built in A.D. 304 to commemorate the emperor’s victory over the Persians in A.D. 297. Very few buildings remain from the Ottoman and Byzantine era, as the city was largely destroyed in a fire in 1917. The current Boutaris administration has made serious effort in reappraising the multi-ethnic heritage of Thessaloniki. | ![]() Our local team lead, Aris Paraschou. Aris is president of the ngo United Societies of Balkans. He has also been elected coordinator of the Thess Diktio, the network of the ngos of Thessaloniki. |
